As Buddhist practitioners, we take refuge in the Buddha (and our own potential for Buddhahood), the Dharma (how life unfolds) and the sangha, (a supportive community of practitioners.) On this evening we take a closer look at sangha.
There are activities going on “behind the scenes” at SIM that you most likely don’t know about, as well as other supportive programs which will be offered in the future. We will also discuss what YOU would like to see offered at YOUR sangha.
Cookies and other treats were featured during the break.

The entire talk was very interesting and because it relates to our Sangha, we have also posted this talk to the SIM “News” blog. Some highlights of Sangha members who contributed to the discussion are summarized below noting the audio time marker, name, and discussion topic. This is not a comprehensive list. Listen to the entire talk so you won’t miss out on anything of interest to you.

We’re sorry to say Dennis Warren has a cold/allergies, and is not able to be at SIM this Thursday, March 22, as originally scheduled. The break-time celebration for Dennis will be postponed to a future date.

In his place, Rich Howard will provide beginning meditation instruction at 6:00 pm and the sit and dharma talk will be a continuation of last week’s exploration of Reconciliation.

Dear members of the SIM community,

SIM’s long-time friend and supervising Senior Teacher, Steve Armstrong, underwent surgery for a brain tumor in the last several days. Fortunately, neither his speech nor his thinking has been affected. Follow up evaluation and treatment are underway. A letter Steve wrote last week, when he first learned of his situation, follows immediately below.  Read More …

Dennis completed his term as President of the SIM Board last month.  Please join us on March 22 to celebrate his extraordinary contributions.  We will have refreshments at the break and an opportunity to thank Dennis for his great work during the last two and a half years.  All are invited.  We hope to see you there!

This is a meeting of the SIM community with presentations from the SIM Board and Senior Faculty regarding what we’ve accomplished in the last year and areas where we plan to direct attention and effort in the year ahead. We have scheduled ample time for community questions and comments, and are looking forward to seeing and hearing from all of you.
