The Sacramento Insight Meditation Board is pleased to announce that we have two new members who will be joining us this summer: Alice Carney and Jon Siiteri. Please congratulate Jon and Alice when you see them, and thank them for their service to SIM.

SIM will be taking a break from our monthly community dinners over the summer, so no dinner is planned for Thursday, June 13. We can re-evaluate in the fall whether we want to begin again with a monthly event, or find a new way to “nurture sangha over dinner.” Thanks to everyone who has participated in these events, and have a wonderful summer!

Save the date! The first Young Person’s Shangha meeting will be on May 14, 2019 at 7 PM at the Sacramento Dharma Center (SDC). You can find details about this new sangha in the news post “Young Persons Sangha forming at SIM“. The meeting is also posted to the SDC calendar.

Today we open the online registration to our six week Beginning Meditation Course that starts September 17, 2019. This course will be lead by SIM’s Founding Teacher Dennis Warren. Here is the Course Flyer in PDF format.

The SIM residential retreat has filled fast and is currently full but we encourage you to sign up for the wait list as there’s a good chance you may still be able to attend since people’s plans change and there will likely be some cancellations. Proceed with the registration process to add your name to the wait list. As soon as a spot is open, we’ll notify you and if you don’t get into the retreat, we’ll refund your deposit.

Our annual residential retreat is now open for registration. Our teachers this year are Kamala Masters and Vance Pryor. The retreat will be held at the Mercy Center in Auburn where we have reserved 35 single occupancy rooms. We hope that you’ll be able to join us!

On behalf of SIM Community Teacher Rev. Diane Wilde, we’d like to announce there’s a new course offering through the Sacramento Dharma Center (not a SIM sponsored event).

Want to participate in a study on the impacts of meditation?

A research team at the University of Colorado Boulder is conducting an online survey of meditators. They hope to understand meditators’ perspectives and how they differ from non-meditators. They would like to invite you to participate!

The survey can be completed from your computer and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. If you are interested in participating or want to learn more about the study, check out https://cuboulder.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5sx0NqNLjw45z7L.
