“Grief,” with Community Mentor Rich Howard
Psychotherapist Francis Weller says, “One of the most important things we can do right now in this culture is to grieve, because it is a protest against this collective agreement to turn our backs on what is happening.” The practice of meditation has been described as “one long grieving process.” We see things as they have come to be, without turning our backs, and we let go. In this way, we develop a greater capacity to be with the sometimes harsh realities of life on earth, as well as preparing for our inevitable death. In this latest exploration in SIM’s series of presentations on Difficult Emotions, Community Mentor Rich Howard will look at grief through the lens of buddhist psychology and mindfulness meditation. All are welcome.
