October 8, 2015, 7 – 9pm. “Working with Fear and Anxiety” with Community Mentor Diane Wilde
Physical as well as mental fear is a discomforting presence. The fear of loss, the fear of physical pain, the fear of the unknown… are just a few of the multitude of fears and anxieties that we will experience in this lifetime. We continually look for a place of safety where fear is not present. Anything to gain and keep a sense of security and keep the reality of this impermanent world at bay. As Woody Allen said, “I don’t like to be afraid—it scares me.” Yet it is possible to learn and understand how fear manifests in our lives, and even begin to become comfortable with this challenging state of mind, both in everyday life and during meditation.
