Daylong Retreat with Founding Teacher Dennis Warren at Friends Meeting House, 890 57th Street
Saturday, September 26, 8:30 am-4 pm. One Day Retreat with Dennis Warren, SIM Founding Teacher.
A MAP OF PRACTICE AND PRACTICE MECHANICS: ESSENTIAL SUPPORT FOR PRACTICING WITH THE ASPIRATION OF AWAKENING
Every teaching of the historical Buddha, and every practice tool and method, are part of an inter-related and inter-connected whole. But how do they fit together? Where do we start in understanding this web of support for our practice and our awakening?
This one day retreat will focus on providing a practical overview, a map, of teachings and practice for the community-level practitioner. The day will also emphasize a number of particularly helpful ways of evaluating one’s practice as well as helpful resources that are available to support efforts to develop a deeper and more practical understanding of these topics.
Led by SIM’s Founding Teacher Dennis Warren, the day will include sitting and walking meditation; practice instruction; a dharma talk; and plenty of time for questions, answers and discussion.
This one day retreat will begin at 8:30 and end at 4:00 pm. Please bring a lunch and plan on staying on-site during the lunch hour and during the whole day. The event will take place at the Sacramento Friends Meetinghouse, 890 57th Street.
