Every Moment is the Right Moment: Developing Continuity of Awareness
In this daylong, we will develop continuity of awareness through alternating periods of dhamma discussion with open periods for “continuing to practice in any posture.” This style of meditation, as taught by Sayadaw U Tejaniya, Steve Armstrong, Kamala Masters, Andrea Fella, and others, cultivates an open awareness to all experience that is easily applicable to daily life. By bringing awareness to each activity and the transitions between them, this style requires a gentle perseverance rather than a forced personal effort, and can leave one feeling refreshed and alert even after a full day (or two weeks!) By using the mind itself as an object of awareness, the practice allows us to see and work with our intentions, motivations, and habits of mind. Bring a lunch and plan to stay on the Friends Meeting House property to make the most of this day.
